606 Miles to Laredo today…
Woke up this morning to the Texas sunshine!
Some loads end up like this, where the switch takes place in less than hour from the customer.
It makes sense though, not to push on and drive beyond our routine drive times. One more hour at the end of a 12 hour day… is one too many.
Besides… it takes time to “come down” from the day’s work.
Jai wanted to go the additional 45 miles to get to our customer… but it was not to be.
We stopped, I did a quick revised routine. Just enough to get in the seat and make our scheduled appointment.
Once in El Paso, I pulled out the Bellicon — in 94 degrees — and jumped for joy! And now… it’s time for food…
I have to say before I move on that getting to the Conway drop yard in El Paso, is a maze. There has been so much construction in this city over the last year or two that the GPS gets lost!
Once, Jai drove around for an hour trying to get back on the freeway to get to this yard, which is tucked away in a little burg. Honestly, I’m not sure I could get back to this place again without Jai’s help LOL.
While in El Paso, we did get to see our friend Pat Biggs… another Con-Way driver who just got his first truck! Yay Pat! Congratulations!!
We wish him the best and intend to lean on him for details as we consider our own foray into Owner/Operator.
It’s time to continue on to Laredo.
Keep your shiny side UP!
