New York in April

I woke up at my usual time. “Are we stopping to switch?”

“There isn’t anywhere”, Jai said.

“Where are we headed?” I asked, knowing last night he dropped a trailer in Philadelphia – but that was all I knew.

“Are you ready for this? New York City”.

“You’re kidding.”

“Um… no.”

I climbed up into the jumpseat and grabbed the camera/phone and noticed my hands were shaking a little. I started snapping pictures all the way in, to one of the most incredible cities not he planet. We were going through the Bronx, into Queens.

OUR FIRST TIME…

I don’t know if you think it is a big deal or not… but …taking a 72 foot long truck that’s 13’6″ high into one of the oldest cities in the country is a very big deal. Just ask any trucker how they feel about going into New York City…. 🙂

Thankfully we had more than a year of driving under our belts before we had to do this.

Jai drove in. Andrea drove out. This was a very big day…

  1. Hey Andrea and Jai! I really love those pictures! What an experience for you both driving through New York City for the fist time. I am on the road now with my boyfriend on our way from a pickup in Ohio to Nebraska for a delivery going through Illanois right now. I look forward to your next videos. Happy Trucking, Maggie

    • Hi Maggie! My phone began having some trouble more than a week ago… right about you posted this. We have not been able to post anything until now. It’s limping a little right now – but I’m getting it fixed tomorrow (hopefully). Never the less, I was able to get online finally and thrilled about your comment here. Glad you’re out there girl! Happy trucking M 🙂

  2. Oh, I forgot to mention, I brought my Instapot on the road. I’ll let you know how it works out for us.

    • Hi Moses,
I tried sending you an email but it kept coming back undeliverable. I hope you see this reply to your post. Thanks you for the commentary. We DO hope you get over here sometime soon! It would be great to meet you… and swap trucker stories LOL – A&J

  4. I noticed you said that the truck is 13’6″ high and that sign said 12’6″ clearance. How’d that go?

Also thanks for sharing your adventures. It has helped me decided to give Keturah Wheat a call and I hope to be on my way to MO soon. Hope to see you down the road.

    • Joey!

Goodness… I’ve let myself get behind on comments here on the blog. My apologies.

Are you on board with Conway yet??? Looking forward to meeting you and hearing more about your adventure.

That sign in New York… well, I don’t know what to tell you. We made it under that bridge so… ?? 🙂 We were of course worried looking at it. The truck driver sitting in the next lane was laughing at us and the looks on our faces, so perhaps it’s a New York joke on truckers? LOL I don’t know…

      Peace Joey – Andrea

Hello Andrea and Jai. I just got my CDL and in 9 days will start training with Knight. I’ll just be running regional but looking forward to it all the same. I can see from your videos and website that I have a lot to learn! I’ve been looking at a lot of videos and sites to learn what I can ahead of time and must say that your’s is the best! It’d be great to meet you all on the road some day.

Good luck in all your ventures and stay safe.

    Bruce
