Temperatures have reached record highs here in Baytown, Texas, over the last week. And we have found a few minor ways to beat-the-heat… but meat it a whole different matter!
Today, Jai went to pick up the truck. Long story short… after the DPF system was put back together and tested, it turns out the alternator and 3 batteries are dead as door nails. Or close to it.
The truck went back into the shop. A part was ordered ASAP… and tomorrow they’ll put it all in. Hopefully, we’ll be on our way. However…
A new alternator was put in 4 months ago and 4 new batteries were put in 3 months ago. So what’s causing this? No one seems to know.
In any case, our ARB freezer fridge was in the truck in this heat for several days (unbeknownst to us) without power.
When Jai brought it to the hotel room this afternoon, it was definitely in the “melty” stage but all the meat was still frozen!
The strawberries were on top and thawed a bit. Enough to get their juices all over everything. A quick clean-up and the ARB was as good as new, ready to be plugged back in with the important meats and veggies still intact. Thank you!
The video tells the story… but I had to add a big “thank you” that we didn’t lose everything as has happened several times in the past – before we got the ARB.
We shall see how things go tomorrow. 8 days into this breakdown!
