Hello Truckin’ Family,
On a call this week with XPO executives, we heard the sale of Conway to XPO was completed this past Friday, October 30, 2015.
At this time, the possible sale of Con-Way Truckload to “unspecified buyers” has not yet been made clear as to whether that will happen… or not.
So, what does all this mean?
Conway is now XPO. Conway Truckload is now called XPO Logistics Truckload.
It’s done. The name has changed. The people however… the folks in Joplin, have not.
Our Fleet Manager is still the same.
The person behind the Fuel Desk in Joplin, is still the same.
There are no obvious changes to be seen — except the name.
The fuel and route change was coming whether XPO purchased Conway Truckload or not. That has it’s own issues to be resolved, but they too will resolve.
The XPO/Conway Purchase Rumor Mill Is In Full Swing
Unfortunately, some people are making themselves miserable, worrying about what’s going to happen, how it’s going to happen and when it’s going to happen.
Comparisons are being made between this purchase and the recent Celedon/Tango purchase.
Gossip is flying …and people are gobbling it up and passing it along.
I have an idea.
Think about gossip as if it were vomit.
Would you eat vomit?
Then don’t eat it, vomit it up and pass it along to someone else.
Gossip can and will make you sick. All for nothing in the end.
A viable option is to let reality unfold. It has a wonderful way of doing that whether you worry over it or not.
The strange thing about reality is that it is exactly that… what’s real.
We often say things like, “That shouldn’t have happened”.
Think about that statement and then look at what did happen and ask yourself, “Is that a sane thing to say?”
What happened is exactly what should have simply by the very fact that it did. That is how reality works.
It should have happened because it’s what did happen.
Such a simple idea… and a sane idea to boot!
At this moment, I am sitting in the T680 that Conway assigned to us.
It is fully supported by the earth beneath it.
Everything is solid.
Our paycheck comes through at the end of each week.
Our next destination comes over the QualComm when a load is delivered.
This is reality.
Could all of that change?
Sure. But not right now and right now is the only place where it’s possible to live.
We cannot live in the past because it’s over.
We cannot live in the future because it has not yet arrived.
Right now is it and right now… everything is fine.
